Welcome
Who We Are
We are an evergrowing group of dedicated railway history enthusiasts coming from all walks of life. We are photographers, writers, historians, teachers, architects, engineers, machinists, retired railroaders, model railroaders, white-collar workers, blue-collar workers, and civic leaders. We all share a common love for railway history and technology. We enjoy sharing that love with others. This is the glue that binds us together.
What We Do
We gather and preserve items of railway history for the education of future generations. We publish items relating to railway history such as our calendars. We spnsor excursions and field trips that promote both the enjoyment and study of railway history. We promote grade crossing safety and an understanding of today's railroad industry.
To further our goals, we need a home. We are working to establish the Heartland Railway Museum, to be located in northeast Indiana. Here, access to our archives and collections will be readily available for study. Equipment displays and demonstration rides will impart the history and romance of railroading.
We hold meetings on the second Sunday of alternate months at the Baker Street Depot in Fort Wayne at 2:00 pm. Check the calendar for which months are scheduled.
